Prenatal Ultrasound Heating Effect on Bony Morphology in Young Rabbit

Results As reported previously, with Micro-CT we can get better images because of the higher resolution. Micro-CT is a useful tool in defining bony morphology and the structure. Bone maturity such as distraction osteogenesis which results in increased bone mineral density (BMD) is one example of the effects of exposure to ultrasound. High BMD values are reported to increase the rate of bone aging, hence increasing the risk of osteoporotic bones. As such, high BMD in foetus exposed to ultrasound during pregnancy could possibly increase the risk of BMD related diseases.
